Ensuring Inclusivity: The Leave No One Behind Project

At the Social Support Foundation (SSF), our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society knows no bounds. One of the projects that encapsulate this dedication is the Leave No One Behind Effective Implementation of The Local Governance Act, 936. This project is a testament to our unwavering belief in the importance of ensuring that all voices are heard in the decision-making processes of our district assemblies.

Empowering Marginalized Groups

The project kicked off by sensitizing and empowering marginalized groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and female traditional authorities. The focus was on raising awareness about their right to inclusion and integration in the district assembly processes.

By empowering these groups, the project aims to create a more level playing field where their voices are not only heard but also valued. Inclusion is not just a goal; it’s a fundamental right, and this project is a step towards ensuring that everyone can participate in shaping their local governance.

Spreading Awareness

Sections 40-48 of the Local Governance Act contain critical provisions related to the inclusion and participation of marginalized groups in the decision-making processes. Sensitization sessions were conducted to ensure that these provisions were well understood by the target groups.

Creating awareness and providing knowledge is the first step towards empowerment. By ensuring that these sections of the Local Governance Act are not just words on paper but actionable rights, the project contributes to building a more just and inclusive society.

Fostering Participation Through Media Advocacy

To foster popular participation and involvement of civil society and marginalized groups in the District Assembly Sub-Structures and the PRCCC (Public Resource and Complaints Committee), SSF facilitated media advocacy and engagement sessions. Collaborating with local radio stations and community public address systems, the project extended its reach and ensured that the message of inclusion reached every corner of the community.

These media advocacy efforts are not just about disseminating information; they are a call to action. They encourage civil society and marginalized groups to actively participate in the decision-making processes of their local governance.

A Brighter Future for All

The Leave No One Behind project is more than just an initiative; it’s a promise. It’s a promise that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has a role to play in shaping the future of their community. By empowering marginalized groups, spreading awareness, and fostering participation, the project is a catalyst for change.

At SSF, we believe that an inclusive society is a stronger society. It’s a society where diversity is celebrated, and every voice is valued. The Leave No One Behind project is a significant step towards making this vision a reality.

Stay tuned for more updates on our ongoing projects and the impact they are creating in the communities we serve. Together, we can build a brighter future for all, leaving no one behind.
