The Care and Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Persons living with HIV& AIDS (PLHIV) – CASOP programme
This engages us in capacity building through Training, Advocacy, and Public
education on the themes of Reproductive health (STI, HIV& AIDS), empowerment
and the rehabilitation of Women and Children infected and affected by HIV,
displaced and traumatized, abuse and social injustice through psychosocial
counselling and home-based support.
The SSF has undertaken a series of Projects and activities under this programme
including the CASOP I supported by the GAC and Community fundraising, CASOP
II supported by NACP & WHO and the WASH Project supported by SSF
International. All these projects are carefully crafted with the aim of drawing
attention to the inclusion of the vulnerable and marginalized; rights-based advocacy
and human-centred development issues, targeting women and children, OVC &
PLHIV in Ghana.
This programme currently supports 150 PLHIV, 250 OVC (85 in school), 50 Home
based Caregivers among others.
Child Health, Empowerment and Education Surveillance (CHEES) Project
The Child Health, Empowerment and Education Surveillance (CHEES) Project is a
full-time operational unit retrieving and rehabilitating 150 Children from working on
small-scale mining and quarries in and around Obuasi in the Ashanti and Central
regions of Ghana.
The CHEES Project has been expanded into other operational Communities over the
periods as part of our efforts to enhance Child Survival, reduce child labour,
trafficking and servitude in communities and workplaces including small-scale
miners, farmers and fishermen.
CHEES Rehabilitation will work towards Child Health promotion and empowerment
of Children, enhancing the rights of the child, back-to-school promotion, vocational
and professional support for the out-of-school through skills training, microfinancing
links and follow-up on the economic progress of clients, if necessary.
